DRAWING (4)

Today, we began with showing our teacher, the live human sketches we had done as homework. He observed all our sketches and pointed out our weaknesses. The common mistake we made was that we wouldn’t make our sketches stepwise and would directly jump into details. He gave this really helpful advice of first drawing a very light base, which is geometrically broken down, to check the proportions and body postures, and then go over it, give more details and darken the lines as we get more confident.
We practiced different human postures in that manner and also discussed the correct proportions.
Further, he showed us different kinds of shading including hatching, cross-hatching, stippling, and scribbling. Then we were asked to live-sketch any object using one of these types of shading such that the texture of the object and the values of the sketch are evident.
All in all, I realized I had a long way to go and that it would only come with a lot of practice.
