Time (1)

We commenced with the subject with a clean slate, having no idea what it consisted of . We began the class with some wild guesses on the same and then started talking on the concept of time. Soon, a bunch of questions muddled my mind. What exactly is ‘time’? Does it really exist or is it just a human creation to make existence on earth more understandable and organized? Is time static or mobile? If its mobile, is it constant or inconstant? Is it subjective or objective? Is it linear or cyclic?

I would say, that the concept of time is as vague and malleable, as it is in my mind. Why the concept of time seems very confusing is because of its subjective and relative nature.

When we are bored, time feels slow and when we are enjoying something, we want it to go slower; when we are sitting and thinking, time seems to have stopped, but when we are getting too late to catch a train, its running at its fastest pace. We say that once gone, a moment can never be lived again, but contradictorily, we also see time repeating itself. Thus, I could also say time is sometimes illusionary.

We also talked about procrastination, which is one of my stubborn habits. The faculty explained that procrastination is not bad in itself, and could be done in a smarter way by using the procrastinated time doing something enjoyable that is also productive or useful.

We were then shown a movie called chronos, which was a 45 minute non lyrical video, which made me feel some aspects of time very impactfully.

This class made me wonder about time in a way I never have.
