I was unable to attend the tenth week’s studio class but i got updates from my classmates. we got introduced to the next project for which we were to make mind maps on the programme pathway we like and two other that closely related to it. I chose interior design and the two other subjects that share common elements with it are:
- product design: because a very important element of interior design is furniture and designing of furniture is also very much a part of PD.
- fashion communication : common elements are- color theory and analysis, sourcing, styling, material exploration, dealing with clients and understanding their needs,material exploration, mood boards, etc.
This assignment involved a lot of research about the subjects and also some thinking. The exploring not only helped me learn a lot about these subjects but also helped me finally realize that what i really want to do is interior design. I read a lot and saw a lot of videos related to it and reflected upon the excitement it brought me. Moreover, properly organizing everything into step wise and categorized mind maps made it a lot clearer in my head. I got an idea of what kid of jobs and detailing it included. I also learned concepts like green interior designing; feng shui designing; turning of old factories into living spaces; origami apartments- making the most out of compact spaces using expandable and foldable furniture; etc. I saw a place called the canvas house in Singapore which was a completely white house; I found that it was a co living house and also ended up exploring the concept of co-living.
