In today’s class, we were introduced to storyboarding. We discussed how to express, emote, and emphasize. We talked about framing and composition… why do we compose a frame in a specific manner and in what ways can it be composed. For me, the reason behind it is to make it more interesting…to catch the eye of the viewer and to lead it towards the focused object.

I learned that it’s necessary to play with graphic styles and compositions by altering elements like size & positioning, values & depth and, unity & contrast, not only to make it more interesting but also to give a clear picture of the space and the character.

Further, we discussed more about cartooning techniques and graphic styles. We were asked to select one vegetable and one emotion and make a character out of it. The faculty gave us the reference of some famous cartoons and explained how each one of it was so different in terms of shape and form, style, proportion and the level of simplicity, We were thus asked to make our character in these different graphic styles, which made me understand how in so many ways we can represent a character or an object.
