Drawing ( 7)

In today’s class we learnt about perspectives. It is a way of drawing objects upon a flat piece of paper so that they look three-dimensional and realistic.

I learnt some rules about one point and two point perspective: there is always a horizon line (eye level) on which the vanishing points are located. Vanishing points are the points of convergence. If an object is above the horizon I’ll be able to see it’s bottom and vice versa.

One point perspective shows how things appear to get smaller as they get further away, converging towards a single vanishing point on the horizon line.

We also discussed a few examples for one point and two point. The faculty asked us to specifically think about some real life examples that we see daily, like our college hallways, our streets and also places like marine drive, gateway of India and sea link.

I began practicing those rules with drawing cubes and cuboids and later, alphabets and compositions. We also learned to multiply cubes in perspective. This topic was very interesting to discuss and also fun to draw.
