In today’s lecture, we had a deeper discussion on the various styles of writing. We discussed the differences in haiku and limerick apart from their different formats. Haikus are more philosophical and limericks, on the other hand, are satirical, ironic and hilarious.
We also discussed how everyone communicates differently, depending on what we’re communicating, and who we’re communicating it to. Then the faculty asked us which was our most unforgettable event or experience so far and in what way would we narrate it. This made me perceive my style of narrating and how it changes based on the relationship I have with the listener. Thus, we learned, how in various ways we can express reality.
Further, the faculty suggested a few books to us including ‘can’t and won’t’ by Lydia Davis, ‘XLibris’ by Anne Fadiman, ‘letters to a young poet’ by Rainer Maria, etc. By all of this, I could make out how vast and immensely creative the field of literature is.
In this class, I also learned about the importance of reflection and retrospection.
